Is screen mirroring free?
Yes. Screen Mirror is free to use. The Android app installs for free and the browser receiver opens with no account, no trial, and no payment. There is no paid tier hiding the main features.
Do I need to install anything to receive the screen?
No. The receiver is a web page, so any TV browser, laptop, or tablet can display the mirrored screen. You only install the app on the Android phone that captures and sends its display.
Does it work over the internet or only on the same Wi-Fi?
The phone and the receiving screen need to be on the same Wi-Fi network. The video travels directly between the two devices on your local network. That keeps latency low and means the picture never leaves your home or office.
Why isn't the video showing after I scan?
The most common cause is the two devices sitting on different networks, for example the phone on mobile data and the computer on Wi-Fi. Put both on the same Wi-Fi and reload the receiver. A guest network that isolates devices can also block the direct connection.
Does the QR code change every time?
Yes. Each time you load or refresh the receiver page it creates a new pairing code and a new QR. If you ever need a fresh code, simply reload the page and scan again.
Will mirroring drain my battery?
Capturing and encoding the screen does use power, so longer sessions warm the phone and use battery. Keeping the phone on a charger during long mirroring sessions is a good idea, especially for movies or presentations.
Can I mirror to a Chromecast or smart TV directly?
Yes. Alongside the browser receiver, the app can hand off to the system caster for Chromecast, Android TV, Fire TV, and other built-in receivers. The device guides above explain each path.
Is my screen recorded or stored anywhere?
No. The stream is peer-to-peer between your phone and the receiver. The small signaling server only relays the connection handshake, never the video, and keeps no recording of your session.
