Android TV screen mirroring

Mirror your phone to an Android TV or Google TV and put the whole screen, apps, games, photos, on the big display.

Android TV and Google TV ship with Google Cast built in, so they behave like a Chromecast that is baked into the television. Screen mirroring to an Android TV copies your entire phone display rather than a single app's stream, which is what you want for mobile games, photo albums, or any app without its own cast button.

How to mirror your phone to Android TV

  1. Join the same Wi-FiConnect your phone to the network your Android TV uses. Both devices must sit on the same Wi-Fi.
  2. Wake the TVMake sure the Android TV is on its home screen and not asleep so it advertises itself for casting.
  3. Start mirroring in Screen MirrorTap Mirror Screen to TV, pick your Android TV from the cast picker, and accept the capture prompt.
  4. Mirror, then stopYour full screen appears on the TV. Disconnect from the cast control or the notification when done.

If the cast picker does not list your set, open Quick Settings and tap the Screen cast tile. On some Google TV models you can also confirm casting is enabled under Settings if a device stays hidden.

A browser option for any input

Want the screen on a monitor or projector connected through the same network? Open the browser receiver in the Android TV web browser or on a nearby laptop, scan the QR code, and your phone mirrors there. It is the same fast, private path described on our mirror to browser page.

What's the difference between Android TV and Chromecast here?

Practically none for mirroring, Android TV has Google Cast built in, so the steps match our Chromecast guide. The only difference is the cast target is the TV itself rather than a separate dongle.

Can I mirror with the screen rotated?

Yes. Rotate the phone to landscape and the mirrored image follows, filling more of a widescreen TV, useful for video and games.
