Fire TV screen mirroring
Mirror your Android phone to a Fire TV Stick or Fire TV Smart TV using Amazon's built-in Display Mirroring.
Fire TV uses Miracast for screen mirroring rather than Google Cast, so the steps differ slightly from a Chromecast. The good news: every recent Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Edition television includes a Display Mirroring mode that waits for a phone to connect. Once it is listening, Screen Mirror sends your full screen straight to the TV over Wi-Fi Direct.
How to mirror your phone to Fire TV
- Open Display Mirroring on the Fire TVPress and hold the Home button on the remote, then choose Mirroring. The TV shows a "ready to connect" screen.
- Open the caster on your phoneIn Screen Mirror tap Mirror Screen to TV, which opens your phone's wireless display picker.
- Pick your Fire TVSelect the Fire TV from the list and accept the capture prompt. Your screen appears on the TV in a moment.
- Stop mirroringPress Home on the remote to leave Display Mirroring, or disconnect from your phone's display menu.
Miracast performance depends on the Wi-Fi between the two devices. Keeping the phone within a few metres of the Fire TV and avoiding crowded 2.4 GHz channels gives the smoothest picture.
Prefer a browser? Use the Silk receiver
If Miracast is unreliable on your network, open the browser receiver in the Fire TV's Silk browser, scan the QR code, and Screen Mirror streams your phone over standard Wi-Fi instead of Wi-Fi Direct. It is the same approach covered on the mirror to browser page and often steadier in busy apartments.
My Fire TV doesn't show a Mirroring option, why?
A few very old or low-cost Fire TV models drop the Miracast receiver. On those, the browser receiver in the Silk browser is the reliable route.
Does Fire TV mirroring carry sound?
Yes. Display Mirroring sends both video and audio, so music, video, and game sound play through the TV along with the picture.
