Samsung TV screen mirroring

Mirror your Android phone to a Samsung Smart TV with Smart View, and put your full screen on the panel over Wi-Fi.

Samsung Smart TVs accept screen mirroring through Smart View, Samsung's name for its Miracast receiver. Any Android phone can connect to it, you do not need a Galaxy device. Screen Mirror opens your phone's wireless display picker, you choose the Samsung set, and the whole screen mirrors to the TV.

How to mirror your phone to a Samsung TV

  1. Wake the TV's Smart ViewOn most Samsung models, mirroring is always listening on the home screen. If not, open Source and select Screen Mirroring.
  2. Put both devices on one Wi-FiConnect the phone to the same network as the TV so they can find each other.
  3. Cast from Screen MirrorTap Mirror Screen to TV, pick your Samsung TV from the list, and approve the capture prompt.
  4. Accept on the TV if askedThe first time, the TV may ask you to Allow the connection. Confirm with the remote and your screen appears.

If the TV does not show up, restart Smart View by switching the TV input away and back, and make sure the phone is not on a separate guest network.

Mirror through the Samsung Internet browser

Newer Samsung TVs run Tizen with the Samsung Internet browser built in. Open the browser receiver there, scan the QR code, and your phone mirrors over normal Wi-Fi rather than Miracast. This browser route is a dependable fallback when Smart View is being stubborn.

Do I need a Galaxy phone to use Smart View?

No. Smart View on the TV side accepts standard Miracast, so any modern Android phone can mirror to a Samsung Smart TV through Screen Mirror.

Why does the picture have black bars?

That is the difference between the phone's aspect ratio and the TV's 16:9 panel. Rotate the phone to landscape to fill more of the screen for video and games.
